It was one of those crisp fall afternoons, just over four years ago, when I applied to the factory. It was my solution to getting some consistent income since COVID had foiled a lot of career plans that year.
“I’ll only be working here for a couple of months while I figure out my true career path,” I told myself.
But just as COVID was in its first year of an over-extended stay, so was I…
CUT TO: One Year Later
After only a year of running entry-level equipment, I worked my way up. All the way up to being promoted to the most complex machine the factory owns. And became one of only two operators in the entire facility of 100+ people trusted to run this machine.
All while being completely unfamiliar with the industry.
CUT TO: Three Years Later
I’m still running the head honcho machine at the factory. I have NEVER had a major quality error. And I’ve kept production in my department running smoother than ever. But my progress stops there.
It was then I realized I’d hit a ceiling on how much I could contribute to my company’s success. I’ll only ever be able to put in so many hours. To create so many parts a day. To improve efficiency so much. There was now a limit to everything I could offer. Or so I thought…
After sitting in on dozens of company meetings, I realized something.
The biggest problem wasn't the efficiency of workers or the amount of time it took to get product out the door.
It was the amount of business we had coming in.
Once I realized the solution to this problem, I fell in love with marketing. I went down a rabbit hole and discovered it was much more than a solution for this problem. It could lead to virtually unlimited potential in the success of a business.
CUT TO: Every night after work
I’d hit the books. Overloading my brain with everything marketing.
Now you’re probably wondering, what exactly did I focus on?
Everything. Even the bad stuff.
Industry insights across different niches. Podcasts from key figures in marketing. Books by the giants in the industry. I absorbed it all and continue to do so.
I also pay attention to some of the more predatory sales funnels that target people new to marketing. Not because I buy into their claims of “getting rich quick” or the whole make-money-online angle. But because their strategies work and could be reverse engineered to serve a better product or respectable brand.
What do you get when you choose Cody?
You get someone who's to the idea that a lot of blood, sweat, and tears go into great marketing that achieves big results.
CUT TO: Today
You’ve got this far on my About page. You’re wondering if I’m the guy to help take your business to greater heights I’d love to talk more and see if we’d be a good fit.
